Limiting Your Carbon Footprint with Eco-Friendly Gardening
People are looking for all sorts of ways to jump on the green living bandwagon. Not only because they want to lessen their carbon footprint, but also because it is the right thing to do to save the planet for generations to come. There is no excuses for continuing to destroy the planet once people become educated about ways to preserve it. The damage of all the years of abuse the environment has suffered as a result of man is evident. Ecofriendly gardening is yet another way to contribute to the consciousness of change and maintaining the environment.
Before the days of riding lawnmowers, electric hedgetrimmers and powered lawn sweepers, people used hand powered tools to maintain the yard. There were no electric edgers, people used to trim edges by hand and cut the grass with a hand lawn mower. These old fashioned tools required more effort, but it was a way to stay in shape when there was really no time or thought of a gym workout. Grass trimmings were not collected as often in the past, but if they are, they can be used in the compost pile as a natural fertilizer.
Green living encourages consumers to use less water and become more energy efficient. This mindset helps to limit power tool use on the lawn and garden while getting exercise. Many calories are melted using the outdoor broom or manual rake as a push lawn sweeper. Consequently, two accomplishments are achieved in one task. When the lawn is manicured and weeding is done the garner now has a wider selection of natural weed killers online, or at the local garden supply store.
There is no reason for those that want to be more ecofriendly to participate in the evolution of change. It is going to make a difference that will surely be evident in years to come. Future generations will be grateful that this generation took the time and patience to bring about this consious change.
